Internet Firsts

First things first. Allow me to wish the internet a Happy Birthday. Yahoooo! 20 years old! People everywhere should be appreciative of this great technology. It's almost 2010 and the web is more useful to more people worldwide than ever before. I probably would not have gotten the ideas expressed here anywhere past my own thoughts if not for this thing called The Internet.

I also have to give out a thank you to the creators of twitter, without it i would not be as informed, inspired and connected to others as i am right now. Here are a few firsts that the internet has seen, some of the technologies used that make it what it is today, and some great videos explaining how the world wide web became connected.

 

The First Web server

The NeXT Computer used by Mr. Tim Berners-Lee at CERN became the world's first web server.
